A Chennai traveller found himself racing against time after heavy traffic threatened to derail his flight—but the city’s Metro came to his rescue. X user Anirudh shared his experience after taking the Chennai Metro for the first time while heading to the airport. He said he was compelled to use the service after getting trapped in severe traffic congestion, which he noted has become increasingly common in Chennai, ironically amid ongoing Metro construction.

He mentioned, "I took the Chennai Metro for the first time, because I was forced. I was stuck in massive traffic jams on the way to the airport, now common in Chennai - ironically due to metro construction."

With just 30 minutes to reach the airport, Anirudh checked his options and found a stark difference between road and Metro travel.

"I had to get to the airport in 30 mins, or I'd miss the flight. I checked Maps- 41 mins by road, 21 mins by Metro. Obvious decision," he added.

He purchased a QR ticket through Paytm and boarded the Metro at Saidapet. To his surprise, the journey was not only faster but also comfortable. He described the train as brand new and "squeaky clean", adding that travelling with his trolley bag was hassle-free.

The convenience continued after he arrived at the airport station. Anirudh was particularly impressed to find a direct connection between the Metro station and airport terminals through travellators.

"And when I reached the airport station, I was delighted to find it connected directly to the terminals through travellators."

The seamless connectivity even led him to a Digi Yatra gate designated for Metro passengers, making the final leg of his journey remarkably smooth.

Calling the experience "Super convenient!", Anirudh said he ultimately managed to catch his flight. His first Metro ride left such a strong impression that he went on to recommend the service to people travelling to Chennai.

The post quickly drew reactions from social media users, with several praising Chennai's public transport system and Metro connectivity.

One user commented, “Yes, it is convenient.” Another wrote, "Glad you used it."

"Chennai's public transport is one of the best in India," a third user added.
