Udaipur Beheading: 2 suspects nabbed; probe points to pre-planned conspiracy

Two of the suspects who were seen on a video claiming responsibility for the beheading of 27-year-old Kanhaiya Lal in broad daylight in Rajasthan's Udaipur have been arrested from the neighbouring Rajsamand district.

The duo had fled from the spot after committing the murder on Tuesday afternoon. Thereafter, they made a 36-second video celebrating the murder and brandished the murder weapon. The video went viral. The police were able to track them down in the Bhima area of ​​Rajsamand district five hours after the incident. The accused have been identified as Riyaz and Gauss. 

More people involved?

The police believe that some more people may be involved in this incident. Efforts are on to nab the co-conspirators. The Udaipur Police has not yet issued any statement regarding the arrest of Riyaz and Gauss. But it is being reported that they were caught at a friend's house, about 120 km from Udaipur. 

Kanhaiya received repeated threats?

According to police sources, between June 17 and June 28, the two suspects issued more than seven videos with death threats. These videos were posted on social media. 

According to the police, there seems to be a pre-planned conspiracy behind Kanhaiya's killing. The police have seen all the videos. Based on these, the search is on for three more people.

Internet curtailed in Udaipur

As tensions mounted in Udaipur, internet services have been blocked across the district for 24 hours. At the same time, the police have given strict instructions in the entire state and heavy police deployments have been made in Udaipur.

Appeal from the DGP

Rajasthan DGP ML Lather has appealed to television channels not to show or upload any video or any other viral video related to this incident. He urged them to refrain from sharing the gory videos and cooperate in maintaining peace and order. 

ADG Law and Order Hawa Singh Ghumaria said that the general public should also avoid making the video viral. If the video is shared in any WhatsApp group or anywhere, then strict action will be taken against the concerned. 

Alert across the state

ADG Law and Order Ghumaria said that the state police is on alert after the incident in Udaipur. Strictest action will be taken against the accused. Collector and SP are present at the spot. He said that people should maintain peace and exercise restraint.
