Coronavirus: India sees spike in daily infections, active cases at 1.29%

India on Tuesday reported 42,497 daily new Covid cases, back above the 40,000-mark after a day’s break.

India on Wednesday reported a spike of 42,625 cases, 562 deaths in last 24 hours as the government warned a day before the pandemic continues. The country has 317,691,32 cases overall and its total fatalities are at 425,757, said the Health Ministry.

India now has 4,10,353 active cases as per the August 4 update. The active cases constitute 1.29% of the total cases.

The total recoveries in India now stand over 3,09,33,022 with the recovery rate at 97.37%, as per the Health Ministry’s update.

Meanwhile, 47,31,42,307 samples have been tested till August 3, for Covid-19. Of these 18,47,518 samples were tested on Tuesday, Indian Council of Medical Research said.
