West Bengal Government Employees Await 7th Pay Commission Announcement

The 6th Pay Commission's term in the state officially ended on December 31, 2025. Following the rules, the new 7th Pay Commission was supposed to start from January this year.

7th Pay Commission Announcement

The previous government had some legal issues that delayed this process. But the new government has put things on the fast track. The 7th Pay Commission's structure is expertly designed, based on a 2.57 fitment factor.

It is being claimed that if the 7th Pay Commission is fully implemented in the state, employees' basic pay could see an unbelievable jump, crossing ₹2 lakh.

For example, if an employee's basic pay under the 6th Pay Commission was ₹25,000, it will increase to about ₹64,250 with the 2.57 fitment factor. This means someone with a ₹60,000 basic could see it jump to nearly ₹1,50,000.

However, the Pay Commission's calculation is not as simple as just multiplying by 2.57. So, everyone must wait for the official government notification to get the final details.

From what we know so far, this new pay structure might have a total of 18 levels. Employees in levels 1 to 5 (Group-D and general staff) will get a basic pay from ₹18,000 to ₹92,300. For employees in levels 6 to 9, the basic pay could start from ₹35,400 and go up to ₹1,67,800.

The Chief Minister has given his assurance that all pending dues will be cleared slowly and with a proper plan, keeping the state's financial health in mind. He himself has stated that a very big announcement on pending DA is coming on the day of the next state budget.
