Two sisters die after getting trapped inside parked car in Rajasthan’s Alwar amid extreme heat
A heartbreaking incident from Rajasthan's Alwar has shocked people across India after two young sisters died inside a locked car during extreme summer heat.
The girls, identified as Tina, aged eight, and Lakshmi, aged five, were found unconscious inside a parked vehicle in the Khudanpuri area under the Vaishali Nagar police station limits. By the time local residents managed to pull them out of the car, both children had died.
According to local residents, the sisters had climbed into the unused vehicle while playing near their home on Wednesday morning. The car had reportedly been parked near Vinod Repairing Car Garage for nearly 10 days because of engine and battery problems, according to a report by Bhaskar English.

Doctors later said the temperature inside the closed vehicle may have reached nearly 53°C, making survival impossible for the children.

Girls were discovered inside parked vehicle
The tragic incident happened between 11am and 11.30am when the outside temperature in Alwar was already around 43°C.
Pappu, a worker at the nearby garage and one of the first people to see the children, said he became frightened after noticing the girls lying motionless inside the vehicle.
According to him, nearby residents quickly gathered and helped open the car before pulling the children out.

Pappu said the condition of the girls shocked everyone present at the scene.
“Their hands and feet had twisted because of the heat. I tried to straighten them, but they would not straighten,” he said.
He added that the bodies of the children were extremely hot to touch.
“People poured cold water on them, but their bodies were still very hot. Their skin looked badly burnt, almost as if they had been exposed to fire,” he said.
The girls were immediately rushed to hospital by local residents, but doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Residents describe unbearable heat inside car
People living nearby said the heat trapped inside the closed vehicle was much stronger than the temperature outside.
Local resident Subhash Chand Saini said opening the car door released a blast of extremely hot air.
“When the door opened, very hot air came rushing out. It is difficult to imagine how long the children suffered inside that vehicle,” he said.
Medical experts explained that temperatures inside parked vehicles can rise very quickly, especially during summer afternoons when the vehicle is standing directly under sunlight.
KK Meena, Head of the Medical Jurist Department, said the children were trapped for nearly 30 minutes.
“The temperature inside a closed vehicle can rise by around 10 degrees within half an hour. In this case, the temperature inside the car is estimated to have touched 53°C,” he said.
According to doctors, the girls could not survive such extreme heat and lack of airflow inside the vehicle.
Sisters grew up without their mother
Residents said the incident has deeply affected the entire neighbourhood because both girls were well known and loved in the area.
Their father, Ramesh, works at a small hair salon located around 500 metres from the family’s rented house.
According to neighbours, the children’s mother died around five years ago, when Lakshmi was only one-and-a-half months old. Since then, Ramesh had been raising both daughters alone while also struggling financially.
Locals said Ramesh usually left home every morning around 9am for work and returned later in the afternoon. During that time, the sisters often played outside in the locality.
Residents said the girls spent time near shops, gravel piles and rooftops because there was no one at home to supervise them regularly.
On the day of the incident, the sisters reportedly entered the broken vehicle while playing nearby and accidentally became trapped inside.
Neighbour Ashok Ahuja said many residents helped the family whenever possible because of their poor financial condition.
“It was difficult for Ramesh to manage the house alone. Sometimes neighbours gave food and other essentials to the children,” he said.
Another resident said the girls were loved by everyone in the neighbourhood.
“After their father left for work, the children mostly looked after themselves. Everyone in the locality cared for them,” the resident said.
CCTV video sparks strog reactions online
After news of the tragedy spread, CCTV footage linked to the incident began circulating on social media platforms, triggering strong reactions online.
Many users expressed sadness and called for greater awareness about the dangers of leaving children near parked vehicles during extreme summer heat.

Several people instead urged parents and vehicle owners to stay alert during summer months, especially when unused vehicles are parked in residential areas.
Doctors say even a few minutes inside a locked vehicle during extreme heat can become deadly, especially for children.
When a car is parked in direct sunlight with all windows shut, heat gets trapped inside rapidly. The temperature can rise much higher than the outside weather within a short period.
Medical experts advise parents and vehicle owners to always keep parked vehicles locked and ensure children do not enter them while playing.
They also recommend checking vehicles carefully before leaving them unattended during hot weather.
The deaths of Tina and Lakshmi have left residents in Alwar deeply shaken. For many in the locality, the tragedy is not only about extreme summer heat, but also about the difficult life of two young sisters who grew up without their mother and lost their lives in a terrible accident while simply playing near their home.
