COVID-19 cases in West Bengal cross 5.5 lakhs; death toll is 9,863
Concern about the new COVID strain is growing in Kolkata. However, there is a sense of relief in the minds of people because COVID-19 vaccine has come to India.
According to the state health bulletin on Wednesday (January 6), 265 people have been infected with COVID in a single day in Kolkata. So far, a total of 1,24,626 people has been infected in Kolkata.
According to the state health bulletin,22 people died due to COVID-19 in West Bengal in one day. Out of 22 deaths, 6 are from Kolkata and 6 from North 24 Parganas. The death toll in the state stands at 9,863. The death toll in Kolkata is 2,990.
In a single day, 243 people were infected with COVID-19 in North 24 Parganas. However, Kolkata again tops the list in COVID cases followed by North 24 Parganas. 868 people were infected in a single day in Bengal.
The total number of active cases in West Bengal stands at 8, 868. A total of 5,57,252 people has been infected with COVID in the state so far.
According to the state health bulletin, 1,271 people recovered and returned home from the hospital in a single day in the state. The recovery rate stands at 96.64%.
