Brijesh Patel confirms IPL 2020 start, final dates
IPL GC chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed to Asianet Newsable about the starting and final dates for IPL 2020. The tournament will be played in UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah)
Bengaluru: The dates for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) have been confirmed today (July 24). The cash-rich Twenty20 tournament will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after it was postponed in March.

IPL Governing Council (GC) chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed to Asianet Newsable on Friday that the full tournament will be played from September 19 to November 8.

“The IPL (2020) will start on September 19 and the final will be played on November 8,” Patel told Asianet Newsable.
When queried about the Indian government’s permission, he said, “It will come”. Also, he confirmed that a full tournament will be played with 60 matches, over 51 days.

Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are the likely venues. The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) is yet to make an official statement on hosting of the IPL.
IPL 2020 was scheduled to be played in March and April but had to be put off indefinitely due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, with the postponement of the T20 World Cup in Australia, it opened a window for IPL.
The full schedule of IPL 2020 and as to when the players will leave for UAE will be finalised by IPL GC when they meet next week.
