CRPF jawan put in chains for violating lockdown norms in Karnataka

 After an argument broke out between CRPF commando Savant and policemen over the former not wearing a mask in light of COVID-19 lockdown, the CRPF commando was arrested and put in chains

 
 

Sachin Sunil Savant, a CRPF COBRA commando was beaten, put in chains in the police station in Belagavi district, Karnataka. According to sources, the COBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) commando, named Sachin Savant was arrested by Belagavi Police on April 23 after an argument ensued over the former not wearing a mask while cleaning his bike outside his residence in the city.

Savant, as well as police officials, went physical and attacked each other, following which Savant was arrested. According to reports, police registered an FIR against Sawant and paraded him barefoot with chains in his legs. The act was condemned by many on social media.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) additional director general has written a letter to DGP Karnataka requesting an inquiry into the incident
