According to police sources, the body has been sent for post-mortem after which the cause of the death can be confirmed.

BJP's former district president Shamit Das said, "TMC killed Ananta and hung his body from the tree to disturb peace in the area and intimidate voters and our party’s workers ahead of the elections."

TMC president of Midnapore city, Biswanath Pandab said, “We don’t know anything about this incident. The BJP always try to blame our party no matter what happened. Trinamool Congress is not related to any such incident.”
