The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Anup Majhi in connection to illegal coal scam case in West Bengal.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Anup Majhi in connection to an illegal coal scam case in West Bengal.
The investigation agency has asked Anup Majhi to appear for questioning on March 30. The Supreme Court on Thursday (March 25) had restrained the CBI from arresting Majhi till April 6.
A division bench headed by Justice D Y Chandrachud on Thursday had ordered “the petitioner shall not be arrested until April 6. The order was passed without going into the details of the case.

The division bench, also comprising Justices MR Shah and Sanjiv Khanna, directed Majhi to cooperate in the investigation.
Earlier, the CBI had questioned Rujira Banerjee, wife of TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee in connection to the coal scam case. Banerjee’s sister-in-law and her family members were also investigated.
The multi-crore-rupee coal pilferage scam is related to the Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) mines located in the state's Kunustoria and Kajora areas.
