With the UFW projects in full swing and rains in the last few days, the residents of Annasandrapalya Rama Temple area have noticed coloured and smelly water flowing from their taps. They think it is the result of sewage getting mixed due to ongoing projects

Bengaluru: As rainfall continues in Bengaluru city, a deluge of problems usually knock on the doors of the residents. Be it waste collection, people falling sick, bad roads or potholed roads turning death traps. Now to begin with, residents complain of contaminated water flowing from taps whenever it rains heavily.

Residents of Annasandrapalya say they often get coloured and smelly water. After complaints to the authorities, the issue gets resolved, but it reappears with heavy rains.

The BWSSB's retired engineer-in-chief Kemparamaiah under whose tenure the UFW project was underway in full swing and resulted in 100% of old pipes being replaced in HAL and Jeevan Bhima Nagar area, said the water from old pipes may be getting mixed at few places and asked the local assistant engineers to be contacted and get the issue fixed.
