The tribute from the Prime Minister was widely echoed across Maharashtra, with leaders from various political factions also coming together to honour the memory of Balasaheb Thackeray, who passed away on November 17, 2012.

In the photo, Shinde is seen kneeling near Bal Thackeray in his latest Twitter display photo, indicating his loyalty to his guru. Shinde altered his Twitter profile photo soon after taking the oath of office as Maharashtra chief minister. 

His vehement reply came in response to unconfirmed claims that the rebels led by Minister Eknath Sambhaji Shinde, who are now camped in Guwahati, had planned to call themselves the "Shiv Sena-Balasaheb Thackeray Group." As tensions rose among Shiv Sainiks in Maharashtra, the insurgents swiftly backtracked and claimed to be the "genuine Shiv Sena."
