What Venkaiah Naidu's exit means for BJP in AP and Telangana

With veteran leader and former Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu quitting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following for filing his nomination as a Vice President candidate. His exit has left a vacuum in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. And It will now be upon two general secretaries of BJP - Ram Madhav and P. Muralidhar Rao – who are being seen as the front runners to fill in the place of veteran leader M Venkaiah Naidu.

While Ram Madhav is expected to handle the party affairs in AP, Muralidhar Rao will working in Telangana. Both on Sunday were in Warangal, Telangana on the final day of the two-day state BJP executive meeting.

In the meet, Madhav called for the party workers to work hard to bring BJP into power in every state. He reiterated that temporary alliances of some parties for particular issues don’t make them ‘friends’. 

BJP has formed an alliance with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Telangana.

With the exit of M. Venkaiah Naidu, Ram Madhav is expected to aggressively push forward the party agenda. Madhav also expected to go all out against TDP. Earlier Naidu would dissuade party leaders from being overly critical of TDP because of their coalition.
