Telangana government has decided on major changes in the IAS and IPS cadres and their posts and positions may be shifted. According to reliable sources Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has signed the appointment file of Mahender Reddy, the present City Police Commissioner which makes him the new DGP.

About-to-be-retired DGP Anurag Sharma will be the new State Government adviser for Law and Order and Internal Security adviser. He will be receiving his appointment order soon.

The 1986 Batch of officers will also be allotted new offices, especially Dalit officer Krishna Prasad will be shifted from Road Safety to Principal Secretary of Home Department.

Mahender Reddy will take up charge as the new police boss on Sunday. Some of the proposed changes in the department are

  • Senior IPS Krishna Prasad as Home Department Principal Secretary

There is a tie between Jitender, Anjani Kumar and Purnachander Rao for City Police Commissioner. But sources say that Sivadhar Reddy may be given the responsibility of Additional Commissioner of City Police (Coordination).

Telangana state government had earlier requested the Centre to allot additional IPS officers. DGP Sudeep Laktakia and IGP Vijay Kumar (IPS Sikha Goel’s husband) will return from the Centre.

Sources also say that the government is proposing to fill up all the DG posts like Vigilance and Enforcement, Fire Services, RTC (MD), Road Safety and Railways and others. Some Additional DGs may be promoted as DGs.

Government will send the DGP panel for approval to the Centre after the Assembly sessions.
