Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao to get Rs 7 crore bullet-proof bus
- Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will now get a new bulletproof bus for his protection
- This comes after the threat of a Maoist attack in Telangana
With the threat of a Maoist attack looming in Telangana, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will now get a new bulletproof bus for his protection ahead of his visit to various districts in the state, especially the rebel-infested ones, after the state budget.
Maoists threatened TRS leaders after 10 guerrillas were killed in an encounter on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border last week.
The bus, to be procured by the roads and buildings (R&B) department is estimated to cost about Rs 7 crore, reported the Times of India.
The chief minister already has a bulletproof Mercedes Benz bus that was procured at a cost of Rs 4 crore three years ago.
"The committee will look into all the required features of the new bullet and mine-proof bus and will send the proposal to GAD for final approval. It would take a minimum two to three months to get the bus ready after finalizing the tenders," a senior official of the transport department told Times of India.
KCR presently enjoys Z+ security, which involves round-the-clock personal security. KCR's residence Pragathi Bhavan too has bulletproof windows and is guarded all day long.
