Notable actress and first generation TV anchor Mallika aka Abhinava died this morning at 10:30 am in Bengaluru after a prolonged illness. She was 39 years old. She was allegedly in a coma for the past 20 days in a private hospital.

Mallika served as a columnist for several programs broadcasting in various channels between 1997 and 2004. She was the first generation TV anchor and received Best Anchor Award.

She entered the film industry and acted as a character artist in several films like Venkatesh’s Kalusundham Raa, Ninne Pelladutha, Mahesh Babu’s Rajakumarudu and many others.

Mallika was from Hyderabad but was settled in Bengaluru after she got married as her husband Vijay Sai worked there. She is survived by her husband and son.

TV fraternity are mourning the death of Mallika and offered condolences to the family. Her body is expected to arrive in Hyderabad tomorrow where the funeral will be held.
