[Watch] Door of a helicopter crash lands on a terrace in Hyderabad

Door of a helicopter crash lands on a terrace in Hyderabad

The door of a helicopter came crashing down on the terrace of a house in Hyderabad on Monday. Although no one was injured, the sound of the crash sent out panic waves in the Lalpet area, after which the police was called. Measuring 4X3 feet, the police have taken possession of the door.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the door had fallen off a trainee aircraft. The SHO, according to a PTI report said, "Our team has recovered an object which looks like a chopper door. No one has been injured in the incident. There was no complaint also. We have not registered any case. We are verifying with aviation experts."

In a separate report by the Financial Express, it was said that the aircraft belonged to the Telangana State Aviation Academy (TSAA). It was also reported that the Diamond-A 42 aircraft with two persons onboard landed safely later. 

 

A senior official said that an inquiry into the incident is underway by the Air Safety Authority of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The official further added, "As per the information provided by the pilot of the aircraft, a part of the door came off and fell on the terrace. However, the pilot managed to safely land the aircraft. It is a four-seater aircraft and two persons were on its board–a student and an instructor."

Lalguda SHO Kran Kumar Singh said that they received a call from a resident of Yadav Basti saying that an object resembling a door of an aircraft had fallen on his house with a loud thud. He said, "Our team has recovered the object. No one was injured in the incident. There was no complaint also. We have not registered any case. We are verifying with aviation experts. It (the object) has been handed over to the Air Security experts."

In a similar incident, a training aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force recently crashed at an isolated place in the city outskirts.
