Zomato, Swiggy are opening free COVID-19 vaccination initiative for delivery partners
Zomato and Swiggy have pulled up their sleeves to initiate their free COVID-19 vaccination drive for delivery partners.
Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal has been posting on his Twitter account to update on its progress. Last week, Zomato launched its free vaccination drive in the National Capital Region (NCR) and expanded in Bengaluru and Mumbai. Swiggy has also started the drive in Bengaluru. As per their statements, thousands of delivery partners have already been vaccinated.Â
Amazon, Flipkart and Uber have also announced to launch this drive for their employees soon as the Covid cases are rising day by day in the country.
Deepinder mentioned that Zomato has planned to offer free vaccination to more than 150,000 staff and employees. They have partnered with Max Healthcare and started the initiative with NCR, expanding to other states as well.
Zomato is also covering the cost of the vaccination for delivery partners who got vaccinated on their own, as mentioned by the executive.
Goyal's series of tweets came in after Bengaluru based Swiggy announced its initiative for its delivery partners, the frontline staff of its grocery delivery service Instamart and its branded kitchens as per government's guidelines.
Swiggy even mentioned that they would cover the loss of pay when the delivery partners get their vaccination done. They would even pay for their doses if they get it done under a government facility.
Zomato and Swiggy will inform their customers about their vaccinated delivery partners on their apps.
Swiggy said they would provide 24*7 free access to doctors to its delivery workers and their families and that they are continuously working with health care partners and authorities.
