Nitish Kumar Reddy faces legal action from former agency Square The One Pvt Ltd over alleged non-payment of INR 5 crore. The agency claims breach of contract after their association ended during last year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Team India and Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has landed in legal trouble after his former agency, Square The One Private Limited, sued him at the Delhi High Court over non-payment of dues of INR 5 crore.

Nitish Kumar Reddy is part of Team India in the ongoing Test series against England. The 23-year-old was not part of the playing XI for the first Test at Headingley in Leeds before featuring in the next two Tests at Edgbaston and Lord’s. However, Reddy was ruled out of the remainder of the Test series due to a knee injury reportedly sustained during a gym session in Beckenham.
Amid his injury setback and withdrawal from the Test series against England, the timing of the legal dispute could not be worse for Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is still cementing his place in the national team. The legal trouble might not only affect his career but also impact his future endorsements if the matter escalates further.
Petition filed against Nitish Kumar Reddy at the Delhi High Court
After Square The One Private Limited did not receive any pending dues from their former client Nitish Kumar Reddy, the player management agency decided to take the matter to the court by filing a petition against him for non-payment of INR 5 crore in dues.
According to the report by India Today, the relationship between Nitish Kumar Reddy and his former agency dissolved during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy last year, which the all-rounder was part of the Team India, and subsequently signed a contract with another agency of the Indian cricketer who was part of the five-match Test series against Australia.
However, Square The One Private Limited accused Nitish of breaching the agreement between the agency and player. The player management agency has filed a petition under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, alleging the violation of the contract by Nitish Kumar Reddy and the non-payment of dues.
The case is expected to be taken up for hearing by the Delhi High Court on July 28, Monday. The petitioner, Square The One Private Limited, has sought the appointment of an independent arbitrator to settle the dispute over the player allegedly breaking the contract and not paying the money he owed as per the agreement.
‘Nitish Kumar Reddy had secured the deals himself’
As per the report by India Today, the source close to the agency stated that most of the cases are resolved privately, but in Nitish Kumar Reddy’s case, he did not pay the dues and had secured the deals by himself.
“Ninety percent of such disputes do not reach court and are resolved privately. But in this case, Nitish refused to pay any money and claimed he had secured the deals himself,” a source said on condition of anonymity to India Today.
The sources close further added that Square The One Private Limited had been managing Nitish Kumar Reddy’s deals and endorsements since 2021, before it rose to prominence through the Indian Premier League.
The agency reportedly helped Nitish Kumar Reddy get several brand deals and commercial partnerships during the four-year association before their relationship broke down.
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar Reddy has reportedly flown back home after being ruled out of the Test series against England and is likely to undergo rehabilitation and recovery at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
