Do you remember Orkut? The first most popular social media of Google, which debuted about a decade back.

The 'vintage' social networking site was shut down on 30 September 2014 owing to its falling popularity in the age of Facebook and Twitter. However, Orkut lovers now have a reason to cheer. It's back!!!

Yes, Orkut Büyükkökten, one of the founders of Orkut, the most popular social network of last decade, is back with 'hello'. Büyükkökten announced the new social network site on orkut.com like a letter from 'Orkut' and calls it a successor.

"I'm not so good at goodbyes, so I'm calling it Hello. Hello is the next generation of Orkut," the letter says. It also takes a dig at Facebook saying the social media is built on loves and not likes.

However, in the new avatar, hello has a small difference. It is aimed at those who like to build communities of those who share common interest or passion for something. Its emphasis is more on visual content, and you need to create posts based on pictures and one cannot post simple text messages. It can be said that hello is very much like Instagram or Snapchat with regard to sharing of content. It is very much like a game with rewards known as 'karma points' for the posts you like, make and time spent on the platform. There are up to 40 levels and users will get gifts and coins at each level.

Hello is available on both Android and iOS.

The website will come to India only in September and is currently available in UK, Australia, US, Brazil, New Zealand, Italy, Canada and France.

Here are some of the inspired jolts from hello
