Very heavy rainfall expected to hit Andhra in next 48 hrs
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in many districts of Andhra Pradesh in the next 48 hours under the impact of a deep depression in Bay of Bengal that is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm

The deep depression is currently centred 130 km from Nellore and slowly moving towards Odisha.
While Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu spoke to state Chief Secretary Satya Prakash Tucker and collectors of different districts and put the official machinery on high alert, the Disaster Management Department opened a control room in Hyderabad to monitor the situation.
Control rooms have been opened in all district headquarters as well.
Disaster Management Director Dhanunjaya Reddy informed in a release that the deep depression\cyclonic storm was likely to move north-northeastwards along the AP coast.
As a result, heavy to very heavy rainfall was expected at a few places and "isolated extremely heavy rainfall" might occur over coastal AP in the next 48 hours.
The Rayalaseema region might also witness isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours, Reddy said. As the sea condition would be rough to very rough off and along the coast in the next 48 hours, because of squally winds gusting up to 75 kmph, fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea.
"We have communicated this warning to all district Collectors and the departments concerned with a request to be on alert and take necessary action as per the Standard Operating Procedure," the Disaster Management Director added.
Meanwhile, official sources here said warning signals have been issued at various ports in the state asking fishermen not to venture into the sea.
A release from the Met office said Shar and Tada in SPS Nellore district recorded 15 cm of rain while nearby Sullurpeta received 14 cm.
Tirumala Hills, the abode of Lord Venkateswara too received incessant rain today.
Rainfall ranging from one cm to six cm was recorded at various places in Nellore, Prakasam, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Vizianagaram, Krishna, Chittoor and Kadapa districts.
There was a marked fall in temperatures in this mid-summer because of the rain. Nandigama in Krishna district recorded the maximum 38 degrees Centigrade.
