Speaker Ramesh Kumar does not want to sleep with Muniyappa
Reacting to Muniyappa's statement that MLAs and MPs might have differences but bury it by evening, Speaker, Congress leader Ramesh Kumar made another distasteful comment
Bengaluru: “I don’t like to sleep next to a man. Maybe he (KH Muniyappa, MP from Kolar) loves to sleep with me, but I have no such desires. I am married to my wife. I would like to have a relationship with her alone," said Karnataka Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar.
Ramesh Kumar was reacting to Muniyappa's earlier statement that MLAs and MPs bury all their differences by evening.
Taking objection to this statement, Ramesh Kumar wrote to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi explaining Muniyappa's flippant behaviour. He asked them not to give ticket to Muniyappa from Kolar.
Ramesh Kumar and Muniyappa both Congress leaders hail from Kolar and cannot stand each other.
Muniyappa is a seven-time MP from Kolar and is likely to get a ticket this time too. Thus, Ramesh Kumar used the situation to convey his message to the Congress high command that Muniyappa does not deserve the ticket.
However, it can also be noticed that 15 days ago, Ramesh Kumar had compared himself to a rape victim when he was subjected to humiliation in the name of interrogation. This remark was made when an audio tape controversy involving BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa surfaced.
His statement did not go well with leaders as well as the public, and he had to seek an apology for his distasteful comment.
