Bengaluru: Members of Vokkaliga groups and Kannada organisations on Wednesday (September 11) staged a protest march in the city. A massive crowd is expected to join the event in support of Congress leader DK Shivakumar.

Thousands of protesters, including politicians, seers and Kannada organisation members, from in and around the city are expected to take part in the protest march. However, this event, organised by the Vokkaliga community, has brought traffic on Mysore road to a grinding halt.

Apart from Bengaluru, several protests, by the Congress has been held in parts of Karnataka.

The protest march will be flagged off from Bengaluru's National College Grounds and end at Raj Bhavan, where a memorandum would be submitted to state Governor Vajubhai Vala.

On September 10, the Enforcement Directorate summoned Congress leader DK Shivakumar's daughter, Aishwarya, in connection with the money laundering case.

It is also reported that incriminating documents obtained during 2017 I-T raids point to round-tripping of around Rs 20 crore through a Singapore citizen, and this is touted to have a link with Cafe Coffee Day's owner VG Siddhartha's death.
