IPS officer D Roopa transferred to Railways department
IPS officer D Roopa came in the limelight after she exposed irregularities inside the Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru: IPS officer D Roopa Moudgil has been transferred to the Railways department as Director General of Police, Bengaluru. She has served as Additional Commandant General, Home Guards and Civil Security Department Additional Director.
Law and Order DCP, Mysuru Zone, N Vishnuvardhan has now been given the post of superintendent of police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Mysuru South division.
During the end of February, within a span of 48 hours, the Karnataka government transferred 17 IAS, 33 IPS officers and one KAS officer
The reason behind the expediting of transfers is said to be due to the upcoming Lok Sabha election. Once the dates of the election is announced, the code of conduct will be in force and there cannot be any transfers.
However, people protested the transfer of the DCP of Bangalore South, Annamalai. The order to transfer Annamalai was sent on February 28, just five days after he took the position of Bengaluru DCP (South). Following protests, it was cited that there was typing mistake and his transfer was revoked.
D Roopa has been facing the threat of transfers ever since the time she brought to notice irregularities inside the Central Prison in Parappana Agrahara, Bengaluru. The latest reports submitted after investigation also confirmed Roopa's claims that special provisions were being given to few prisoners including former AIADMK chief V Sasikala. Sasikala has been lodged in Parappana Agrahara after she was convicted in a disproportionate assets case.
