Bengaluru: Two men on Saturday (March 23) were arrested from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport for attempting to smuggle illicit drugs costing more than Rs 55 lakh. The two men were held as they were trying to board a flight to Doha, Qatar on Friday. The duo has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The two are currently behind bars.

The accused are identified as Noushad Mannakkamvalli (24) from Malappuram, Kerala, and Muhammed Nousheer (29) from Karnataka's Kodagu. According to reports, the customs officials seized more than 900 grams of Amphetamine, 30 grams of cocaine and about 4 kg of hashish from their luggage, where they were all tightly sealed in tiffin boxes.

Reports also stated that the value of these illegal drugs cost around Rs 55 lakh.

The cocaine and amphetamine were hidden inside a quilt, and the hashish was hidden in two boxes, which were further placed in the backpacks.

After the customs officials arrested the duo, an official report from the Narcotics Control Bureau, Bengaluru Zonal Unit stated that they have begun an investigation to nab the people, who are involved in the drug racket operations.
