Hubballi: Karnataka minister for municipal administration Channabasappa S Shivalli breathed his last at a private hospital in Hubballi due to cardiac arrest today (March 22).

The three-time MLA from Kundagol, Shivalli complained of chest pain and was rushed to Line Hospital in Hubballi. He was taken to the emergency ward. The minister did not respond to treatment and died in hospital.

The 57-year-old Congress member had become a minister for the first time in the HD Kumaraswamy cabinet.

The news of Shivalli's death came as a shock to his family, relatives, Congress leaders and party workers.

Supporters of Shivalli gathered in front of the hospital. Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) have been deployed outside the hospital to avert any untoward incident.

Shivalli had recently visited the accident site in Dharwad where seven people died after a building that was under construction collapsed.
