There are some heartier aphrodisiacs out there in the wild, and it’s not for the lily-livered. Men, it seems, will go to any lengths to increase their libido using these aphrodisiacs.

1. Tiger Penis, China:   

 

Considered to be a potent aphrodisiac, it is now been banned in China. It is usually consumed in soup form, or sometimes even eaten dried or raw. It is said to cure erectile dysfunction in men, however, researchers have claimed it to be a myth.

 

 

 

2. Cobra Blood, Southeast Asia:

 

 

Consumed neat or mixed with alcohol, Cobra blood is a much sought-after aphrodisiac in Southeast Asia.

 

 

 

3. Cow cod soup, Jamaica:    
 

This rum-based broth is mixed bananas, chillis, along with the cow genitalia. Jamaicans believe that this will increase men's’ libido and virility.

4. Leaf Cutter Ants, Columbia:  

 

These ants are traditionally given to Colombian newlyweds. Columbians believe that this will increase one’s sexual desire and stamina. Added benefit: They are high in protein and low in fat.

5. Body Odour, India:    
 

According to Woman’s Day, “Ashok Kumar Panda, a Senior Research Officer at the Ayurveda Regional Research Institute in Gangtok, Sikkim, the first known aphrodisiac was body odor.

 

 

6. Saffron, India:

While this may not top the bizarre list as the other, this needs a special mention. A popular ingredient used in Indian and Egyptian cuisine and is also highly prized. Researchers have found that saffron indeed boosts one libido. According to The Telegraph, “saffron and ginseng are on top of the aphrodisiac food chain, so to speak. A team of scientists from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada found that these two natural substances improve sexual function and libido more than chocolate.”
