Senior advocate Dushyant Dave, who represented former DGP TP Senkumar in the Supreme Court in the case relating to his reinstatement as state police chief, has expressed dissatisfaction over his client's recent statements.

Expressing regret over appearing for Senkumar in the SC, Dave pointed out that he would not have represented the police officer had he known Senkumar harboured such communal thoughts.

"Deeply pained and disappointed about the remarks made by Senkumar. I had represented him in the Supreme Court without charging any fee. Had I known about his saffron inclination and outlook, I would have never appeared for him," reports quoted Dave as saying.

Rumour has it that Senkumar, who retired as state police chief last month, is angling towards a political entry with the BJP. Also, in an interview to a media organisation, Senkumar had said the Muslim population in Kerala is rising and that among 100 children born in the state, 42 are Muslims.

Meanwhile, BJP Kerala state president Kummanam Rajasekharan has come forward, inviting Senkumar to join the saffron party. The veteran leader also said that Senkumar's statement regarding Muslim population is "factual".

Earlier, BJP national executive panel member PS Sreedharan Pillai and state general secretary K Surendran had invited Senkumar to the BJP.
