TV Anupama, the collector who stood for justice and worked without prejudice has taken charge as the District Collector of Thrissur. She will replace A Kowsigan, who will be appointed as the managing director of the Kerala Water Authority (KWA). State cabinet took the decision of transferring the collector.

TV Anupama joined as the collector of Thrissur, at 10 AM today (June 7).

Though her curt decisions made her face criticisms and controversies, Anupama made it a point to hold by law. Her decision to defend the truth made way for the resignation of former minister Thomas Chandy.

District Collector T V Anupama vacated her office after issuing an order to return the paddy field acquired by Lake Palace Resort which is owned by former Transport Minister and Kuttanad MLA Thomas Chandy.

According to the notice, the one-month time was granted to return the land and restore the paddy field. If they fail to do so, the district administration would take steps to recover the land, and the expenses will be incurred from the violator.

The report of the District Collector had forced the Chief Minister to oust Thomas Chandy from the minister’s post. However, the High Court gave respite to Chandy after the court found misappropriation in documents produced by the district administration insufficient to prove the charges. The report submitted by the District Collector had said the road leading to the resort was constructed after acquiring the paddy field and also that the government fund was used for building the road.
