Swami Gangeshananda now claims he was 'fast asleep' when genitals were chopped off, denies rape

The 54-year old Godman whose genitals were chopped off by a 23-year old law student, now has a different theory of the rape. Claiming that he was fast asleep when he was bobbitized, he said that the rape allegations levied on him were fake.

Earlier, the godman had claimed that he only had chopped off his genitals because he did not need it. Then, the mother of the girl came forward and said that her daughter was mentally ill and that she and her boyfriend conspired to take this step when the godman objected to their affair. The mother also said that the Godman was well known in his circuit and the family knew him for years because he stayed with them whenever he visited Kerala.

The girl, however, had said that the godman has been committing the crime for the past 7 years and that it took her some time to muster up the courage to go against him and her family who believed him blindly. 

The fresh twist in the Swami's statement came when he said this to reporters when he was being taken away by the police on Friday. He reportedly said, "I was asleep and when I woke up I saw the woman. She got help from her friend Ayyapa Das." He further claimed, "The news you hear from the police is the version of the woman, and that's not true. The probe is going forward only on the basis of what she said."

The 23-year old law student had claimed that the godman abused her since the time she was a minor and it continued for 8 years. She also said that her mother relied on the godman for the recovery of her bed-ridden father.
