Revenue minister Chandrasekharan freeze order transfer Munnar officials

Revenue minister E Chandrasekharan on Friday froze an order to transfer four revenue officials who took stern measures against the encroachments in Munnar.

On Thursday, the government had ordered the transfer of the four officials, who were part of the team headed by former Devikulam sub-collector Sriram Venkitaraman. The officials were transferred as per their written demand after Sriram was shifted and posted as director of employment and training.

However, Chandrasekharan has frozen the order and asked the experienced officials to continue in their respective posts till the new collector assumes charge and studies the issues in Munnar.

Surveyor AR Shiju, who handled the encroachment cases of the Munnar Land Tribunal, head clerk G Balachandran Pillai, who was appointed to find out and evacuate the encroachments, and officers PK Siju and PK Soman were the officials who got transferred.

There was widespread criticism against the LDF government after it announced Sriram’s transfer to the post of director of employment. The government then explained that it was only a routine transfer since Sriram had completed four years as sub-collector.
