Kerala businessman Rajmohan Pillai arrested for raping, impregnating 23-year-old maid

Kerala business tycoon Rajmohan Pillai, the young brother of biscuit king Rajan Pillai, has been arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating his domestic help. Kerala police said that the cashew baron was arrested after receiving convincing evidence during the questioning on Monday. 

The businessman was grilled for hours after the police got a report that his maid approached a hospital for an abortion. The 23-year-old Odisha native was two months pregnant when she approached the hospital. The doctor grew suspicious and sought the help of his colleague to know whether she was married or not. As they came to know that the woman was unmarried, the hospital authorities informed the police. 

On questioning, the woman told police that she was working as a housemaid at Pillai's residence for the past two months and the businessman used to abuse her sexually. Following this, police subjected her to medical examination and confirmed rape and pregnancy. 

Pillai was arrested after several rounds of interrogation. He was produced before the court and was remanded in judicial custody. Police said the incident took place at his house in Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram. 

He is the chairman of  Beta Group which owns the brand 'Nut King.' His brother Rajan Pillai, who once headed Britannia, died in Tihar Jail in 1995 after he was convicted of cheating and fraud. He allegedly died after he was denied medical help for the liver condition.
