Senkumar made the comments during an interview he gave to an online Malayalam magazine. The interview had caused an outrage as the former state police chief had also made some controversial remarks on some minority communities.

Sandhya had earlier submitted a four-page report to the state government, stating Senkumar's comments were an insult to all women. It is understood that the report recommends registering a case against Senkumar with charges of non-bailable offences.
