Man arrested after actress Pranathi Jose alleges gun threat, assault

Man arrested actress Pranathi Jose mother gun threat assault

The police have arrested a relative of Malayalam actress Pranathi Jose for allegedly assaulting her and her mother, and also threatening them with a gun.

The accused have reportedly been identified as Aravind Ratnakar, 38, who is Pranathi's maternal uncle. He was arrested based on the actress' complaint and has been presented before a court in Thalassery.

It is understood that the incident happened when Pranathi and her mother Ratnaprabha visited her maternal grandfather KP Ratnakaran at his home on Holloway Road in Thalassery on Monday evening. 

According to reports, Aravind reached the house and pointed a loaded gun at Pranathi and Ratnaprabha, before assaulting them. The police said disputes within the family caused the incident.

Pranathi said that she and her mother had come to Thalassery from Chennai a few weeks ago to take care of her ailing grandfather, adding that Aravind has been hostile towards them.

Pranathi is best known for her role in 4 the People, and has also acted in several Tamil films. She is the daughter of Jose, who was a lead actor in Malayalam in the early 80s.
