Malappuram man dead body house months family superstition

In a shocking incident, a family in Malappuram has been found living with the body of a man who is suspected to have died three months ago, allegedly due to the superstition that they can bring him back to life with prayers.

Acting on a complaint from the man's brother, the police on Wednesday recovered the decomposed remains of Syed, 50, kept wrapped in a cloth from his house at Kolattur in the district.

The cops entered the house after breaking the door open as there was no response. Syed's wife, 21-year-old son and two younger daughters were found sitting beside the body, the police said, adding that the family spent most of the time near the body praying for it to come back to life.

The neighbours told the police they were not aware that the man had died. They said that only the son was seen coming out of the house in recent weeks. According to the complaint, Syed was suspected to have died weeks ago

After inquest procedures, the body was shifted to the medical college hospital at Manjeri for post-mortem and forensic examination. The police said further investigation is on.
