The Kerala High Court on Friday allowed a youth from Malappuram to live with the woman who had chopped off his genitals at a lodge in the district around two months ago.
A division bench of the HC passed the order after Irshad, 26, expressed his willingness to go with the woman. The woman, 30, had filed a habeas corpus petition, seeking a directive to release the youth from the illegal custody of his parents came up for hearing.
Irshad was admitted to the hospital on September 21, after three-fourth of his genitals were cut off by the woman following heated arguments at the lodge in Kuttipuram. The woman, who hails from Perumbavoor, was arrested on September 24 and later let off on bail.
The youth's genitals were successfully re-fixed after a complex eight-hour long surgery at the Aster Malabar Institute of Medical Science (MIMS) in Kozhikode last month.
According to the woman, the couple were secretly married and had lived together at her house for a few days. Irshad later went to Kuwait for work, after promising her that he would somehow convince his parents and they could live at his parental home.
On his return, they met at the lodge and Irshad informed her that his parents were not amenable to their marriage. That's when he was bobbited. The lodge owner had found him bleeding and admitted him to the hospital.
Narrating the events to the court on that day, the woman said that she got angry and pulled out a knife to cut a vein on her hand. However, when Irshad tried to stop her, the knife accidentally cut off his genitals.
