Poultry farmers in Kerala have agreed to sell chicken at ₹87/kg, as suggested by the government. The decision was taken at a meeting convened by Finance Minister Thomas Issac at Kozhikode.

Dealers had increased chicken price by ₹50 post Goods and Sales Tax (GST) launch. The state government decided to interfere after the price of chicken increased from ₹105/kg to ₹165. Finance Minister asked traders to sell chicken for ₹87/kg, but they argued that it is not possible.
The dealers also decided to shut down their shops for an indefinite period starting Tuesday. They said that the price hike was not linked to GST but due to lack of supply.
However, the government was not ready to compromise, and the traders had to agree with the minister.
