Kerala Petrol pumps to remain shut on Tuesday

Motor riders in Kerala will face a fuel shortage starting Monday to Thursday as the dealers have decided to go on a 24-hour strike. The petrol stations across the state will be shut down on Tuesday in protest against the daily-revision of prices.

The dealers allege that the new policy causes huge loss to them. They have stopped taking new stocks starting Sunday itself.

The move will lead to a shortage till Thursday as new stocks will be refilled only on Wednesday, once the strike is off. There will be neither purchase nor sale in the pumps on Tuesday.

The distributors allege that under the current system they are forced to sell fuel at a lower price. "Though the ministry states that the change is introduced as per the movements in the international market, it can be seen that price varies even on Saturday and Sunday, which are holidays in international marker," the dealers said.

They are demanding scientific implementation of the decision taken by Petroleum Ministry.
