Kerala MLA points gun at estate workers, threatens to pour acid on them

FollowP C George, the lone independent MLA in Kerala Assembly, is once again in the spotlight for pointing a gun at estate workers. The Poonjar MLA pulled out a gun during his visit to Harrison Vellanadi estate in Mundakayam, where encroachers and estate workers had a fight.
The MLA reached the estate, declaring solidarity with the landless people who were agitating, and entered into an argument with estate workers.
Meanwhile, encroachers entered into a verbal spat with the workers and George also made some remarks against estate people. As the argument continued, workers blocked the MLA and demanded him to withdraw his statement. At this juncture, George pulled out a pistol from his pocket and pointed at them. He also threatened to pour acid on them.
As the situation worsened, some labour leaders came intervened, and the MLA left the place.
Various television channels have aired the visuals, and it can be seen that George is holstering the gun under his shirt while walking back to his car.
Responding to the issue, the MLA said that he took the gun as self-defense. "It was the goons who created a scene. As many as 52 families were staying in the poramboke (land belonging to government), and I was asked to intervene into the issue. The agitating people had complained that the goons of estate owners were attacking them. When I reached the spot, the thugs were there, and they were drunk and abused me. I had to take the gun as a safety measure after they blocked me," he said.
