A couple, from Kerala, was found dead in a hotel room in west Delhi's Rajouri Garden on Saturday evening, the police said. The man and woman in their late 20s are suspected to have committed suicide.

The bodies were discovered after police were informed around 5.25 pm, that the couple, who had checked into the room no 211 at Hotel Aman Deluxe in Vishal Enclave, was not opening the door. The room was locked from inside, and there were no signs of forced entry.

The police opened the door using the duplicate key and found the bodies on the bed, and the man was identified as K Suresh, 29, a native of Puduvalli Pallippad village in Alappuzha district and the woman is about 27 years. He had left home on October 13, and it was confirmed with the train ticket found in his pocket.

The face of the couple was covered in cellulose tape, and the data from their mobile had been wiped out. A three-line suicide note too was discovered from the room, the police informed. In the suicide note, purportedly written by the man addressing his mother, he had apologised to his mother and said he doesn't want to live anymore.

The couple had checked into the hotel about 8.30 am on Saturday morning. The entry in the hotel register showed them as husband and wife and was made against the name Suresh, a resident of Alappuzha in Kerala. He had submitted his Aadhaar card as proof of identity, the police said.

As the couple did not come out of the room till evening hotel staff sensed something amiss. Though they rang the bell multiple times and banged the door, there was no response. They alerted the manager who contacted police.

After checking into the hotel, they had asked for breakfast at around 9.30 am and were served paranthas, curd and two cups of tea, they added. They had finished the tea, but the paranthas and the curd were left untouched, the police said, adding that it was suspected that the couple mixed some poisonous substance with the tea and consumed it.

The woman is yet to be identified, and it is being probed whether he was married to Suresh.

Suresh's family had been informed, the police said, adding that the reason behind the couple taking the extreme step was unclear.
