Innocent did not attend AMMA executive meet held at Mammootty's residence In a press release, Innocent stated that he is not well and is hospitalised The actor also said that the members took a unanimous decision about Dileep's suspension from AMMA
Actor-turned-politician Innocent, who is also the president of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) has finally responded to the arrest of Dileep. He had earlier faced wide criticism after he refused to comment on actress attack case saying that the matter is sub-judice.

He had not attended the executive committee meeting of AMMA, held at Mammootty's residence. Innocent explained that he is not well and is hospitalised.
In a press release, Innocent stated that whoever committed such a brutal act deserves punishment.
"All of us were shocked to hear about Dileep's involvement in actress attack case. We do consider the conspiracy that led to the incident seriously. We were really shocked and whoever committed such a ruthless act must be punished," he said.
The actor further explained that AMMA decided to cancel Dileep's membership after his involvement in the crime was revealed.
"Such a person cannot be included in an association like AMMA. Though I was not able to attend the meet, owing to health issues, the other members had contacted me over the phone. We had to face severe criticism for our earlier stance, but as an association, AMMA could not take strict measures based on speculations. That doesn't mean that AMMA is supporting anyone. How can someone support a person who committed such a brutal act? We have always stood with the actress since the incident," Innocent said.
He also explained that AMMA took a unanimous decision about suspending the actor and that they will always stand by the actress. He also expressed happiness in the way police successfully conducted the investigation and to the Chief Minister.
