Crime Branch case against Senkumar for spreading communal hatred

Crime Branch will conduct a probe against former DGP T P Senkumar following complaints that his words spread communal hatred. Senkumar had said that the rising birthrate among Muslims would change the demographic character of Kerala.

He made the statement in an interview given to 'Samakalika Malayalam' magazine of The New Indian Express. Four persons had complained against the DGP after he said that the "Muslim community accounts for 42% of childbirths in Kerala while their population is just 27%."

Following complaints, the government had sought legal opinion on registering the case against former DGP. Crime Branch took the decision after getting legal clearance for booking case against Senkumar. He is booked under non-bailable offences.

"RSS cannot be compared to ISIS. Islamic State is about religious extremism that goes against the national spirit. Radicalisation can be easily controlled with the help of Muslim Community. I believe there are good Muslims in the state," he said.

Senkumar had also said that he doesn't understand why religious conversion in the name of love is only to join Muslim community. "If the conversion is in the name of love it should be even among all religions. Why only the Muslim community is increasing its number?" he had asked.
