actress attack disperse AMMA ganesh kumar letter innocent dileep

Actor and Pathanapuram MLA KB Ganesh Kumar wrote a letter to Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) president Innocent, asking him to disperse the organisation as it was "spineless", it has now emerged.

Disappointed with AMMA's silence in the Kochi actress attack case, Ganesh called the organisation a "farce" in the letter, according to various reports. The actor-turned-politician felt that the organisation didn't try to protect the actress who survived the attack or Dileep whose name was dragged into the case.

AMMA had refused to comment on the issue since the attack happened back in February till the general body meeting in Kochi on Thursday. Some of the female artists in AMMA then went on to form a separate organisation, called Women's Collective in Cinema, in May.

Dileep apologises for statement on abducted actress

Ganesh questioned the need for AMMA under the circumstances, saying it should be dispersed and let actors take care of themselves. Ganesh handed over the letter to Innocent much before the general body meeting. However, it is understood that some of AMMA's office-bearers pacified him after the incident.

In the press conference after the general body Ganesh stressed that AMMA is united and cannot be destroyed even if some media organisations are trying to do so. Ganesh was vocal in the press meet and even accused the media of targeting Dileep.

CPM not happy with Mukesh's response to media persons at AMMA press meet

Meanwhile, actor and Kollam MLA Mukesh has denied that he used bad words or references during the press meet.

Mukesh and Ganesh, both MLAs with the LDf, had defended Dileep and hit out against mediapersons when asked by a reporter if there have been any attempts to isolate Dileep from the film industry. Protest marches were held against Mukesh, after his enraged comments at the press conference. LDF Kollam unit also expressed displeasure over his statements.

CPI leader Annie Raja also had reacted against Mukesh, stating that a legislator should try to protect a person who made derogatory remarks against a woman survived a molestation attmept.
