The incident happened early morning on the 23rd. The accused reached the spot on a two-wheeler and tried to break open an ATM in Puthencruz. They backed off after their attempt to take out the cash failed. The thieves entered the ATM kiosk wearing raincoats and helmets to hide their identity.

The ATM machine's dispenser unit and other parts suffered damages worth around Rs 2 lakh. Police identified the culprits through a scientific investigation. Cops took them into custody from the Karimugal area. They also seized the two-wheeler used for the crime. The investigation team included DySP Babukuttan, Circle Inspector PM Aby, SIs Jithin Kumar, Ajin Shan, G Sasidharan, Mathew M Jacob, Biju John, Manoj Kumar, Dileep Kumar, ASI Sreejith, and Senior CPO Vinu Abraham.
