Kozhikode: A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday (Dec 10) morning on Kozhikode Beach Road near the Vellayil Police Station, resulting in the untimely death of T K Alvin (21), a native of Kadameri in Vadakara. The incident took place around 7:30 am while Alvin was filming a promotional video. The accident happened during the filming of a chasing sequence involving vehicles. Alvin was previously employed at 999 Automotive, for which the promotional video was being shot when the fatal collision occurred.

Alvin was filming the video on his mobile phone from the roadside when he was struck by a car. Despite his friends promptly taking him to a nearby private hospital, he sadly passed away from his injuries later in the day.

According to Alwin's friend, the accident occurred while he was filming a promotional video for a luxury car on behalf of a private car dealership. However, eyewitnesses contended that he was creating an Instagram reel with his friends at the time. They also stated that the unregistered Defender car that hit Alwin had experienced a brake failure.

However, the police have confirmed that the car involved in the accident was a Mercedes-Benz. Initially, two drivers taken into custody had claimed that the vehicle was a Defender. The Mercedes-Benz car reportedly did not have insurance, which, according to the police, may have led to attempts to mislead the investigation.

The police have also requested the mobile phone used to shoot the reels as evidence. The arrest of the Mercedes-Benz driver responsible for the accident will be officially recorded soon, and additional charges may be filed if necessary, the police stated.

The police stated that Alvin was capturing footage of two luxury cars chasing each other from the middle of the road when one of the vehicles lost control and hit him. The vehicles involved in the incident belonged to the owner and a relative of a private establishment, who had used them for filming the video. Both vehicles have been taken into police custody.

The police have filed a case of accidental manslaughter. Alvin, who had been abroad due to health issues, had recently returned home, and this tragic incident occurred shortly after.
