Police in Muvattupuzha have arrested a ten-member gang for gambling in a hotel room that hadn't even opened for business. The raid on Tagore Road happened after a secret tip-off to the DySP. Cops seized ₹98,750 from the group.
Kochi: A ten-man gang that was running a high-stakes card game in an unopened hotel on Muvattupuzha's Tagore Road has been arrested. The raid was led by a team from the Muvattupuzha Police Station, headed by SHO Sub Inspector Subin Biju.
The police have identified the accused as Rufi (46) from Anikkad, Muhammed Rafi (35) from Enanellur, Eldhos (45) from Randar, and Jiji Peter (60) from Arakuzha, all in Muvattupuzha. The others are Latheef (45) from Udumbannoor in Idukki, and a group from Erattupetta: Muhammed Ameer (34) from Thekkekara, Muhammed Rasheed (40) from Meenachal, Kareem (50) from Thekkekara, and Sinaj (37) from Vadakkekara. Siraj Sidhique (34) from Poothar Nadubhagam was also arrested.

The police team swooped in on the location after Muvattupuzha DySP KR Manoj received a secret tip-off about the illegal gambling. During the raid, the police seized ₹98,750 in cash from the men. The investigation team also included SIs PC Jayakumar and Paul Mathew, ASI KM Aneesh, and Senior Civil Police Officers Shiju Rajappan, Sandeep Babu, Sandeep Prabhakar, Irfan Habib, and Sreeju Rajan.
