Kerala BJP releases list, Sreedharan to contest from Palakkad

Bengaluru: The BJP has released a list of 112 candidates in relation to the Kerala polls. 

The state party chief K Surendran will contest from two constituencies (Manjeshwar and Konni) while 88-year-old Metroman E Sreedharan will contest from Palakkad. BJP will contest on 115 seats in Kerala.

BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh said, "In Kerala, BJP will be contesting 115 seats and the rest of 25 seats will be left for four parties. State BJP chief K Surendran will contest from two constituencies - from Manjeshwar in Kasaragod and Konni in Pathanamthitta," as quoted by India Today. 

Kummanam Rajasekharan, former BJP leader will contest from Nemom seat even as Union Minister KJ Alphons will fight from Kanjirappally. Suresh Gopi will contest from Thrissur, Dr Abdul Salam from Tirur seat and former DGP Jacob Thomas from Irinjalakuda, the website adds. 

The state will go to polls on April 6. The saffron party is yet to win the state assembly polls. Though the fight is between UDF and LDF, the BJP is going out to make an impact in the states.  


Two Kerala Congress leaders Vijayan Thomas and PC Chacko quit Congress last week. 

A note on the other parties: 

The Congress is fielding candidates in 91 of the 140 constituencies.

The IUML will contest 27 seats.
