Woman slaps constable It is purely polices imagination says father

“My daughter did not do any wrong, yet she tendered a written apology. Even then the police have booked a complaint against her claiming she slapped a police constable. She is very soft spoken and timid girl, even at home. I cannot believe she would slap a police” said Krishna, father of Sarika, who has been booked for assaulting a police constable, when he tried to stop her two-wheeler when Rahul Gandhi’s convoy was passing. “The police cannot treat her like an animal, if a VVIP convoy had to pass through” he said.

Speaking at a press meet on Thursday, Krishna said, the story of his daughter abusing a police constable on duty and slapping him is a fragment of police imagination. He is meeting the Police Commissioner to appeal for justice, that his daughter is innocent and is being falsely implicated by the police and is in shock.

The police have registered a complaint and stated that she was absconding when both my daughter and I were very much in High Grounds police station till 9.30 pm. The police said my daughter should apologise, we agreed. She gave it in writing. We were shocked after two days to get a notice that a case has been filed against her for abusing and slapping a police constable on duty, he said, reports Kannada Prabha.

On June 12, AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi was returning from launching the National Herald newspaper at Ambedkar Bhavan. Sarika was returning from college on her two wheeler and at Queens Road she saw that there were no traffic and she moved her bike. Suddenly a police constable Venkatesh arrived and pushed her bike and she feel down.  Sarika alleges that the constable abused her in unparliamentary language and later took her to the High Grounds police station. The police accused that she not only abused the constable but slapped him, it is reported.

Krishna said he received a call from his daughter and rushed to High Grounds police station. Both waited till 9.30 pm. The police did not tell the reason for bringing her to the station. When he questioned them the officer did not give a clear reply. Finally, Sarika said if she had made any mistake she would give an apology in writing. The police agreed and she wrote and gave it and was released to go home.  However, constable Venkatesh lodged a complaint against her alleging physical abuse and the next day after 48 hours an FIR was filed by the police. If she had indeed made a mistake why wait for 48 hours to file an FIR asked Krishna.
