A man tried to snatch the chain from the neck of a woman and in the process, his last finger was cut. Still, holding on to the chain, the man escaped with the gold chain.

Nageshwari was standing in front of her house at AECS layout near HAL in Bengaluru, and was talking over the phone. Two bike-borne miscreants noticed her and tried to snatch the gold chain weighing 56 grams worth Rs 1.75 lakh from her neck. But the chain got entangled into the thief's little finger and he cut the chain along with his finger to get away. The incident occurred on September 13 but has come to light now.

Nageshwari has handed over the cut finger of the accused to the police and a case in this regard has been booked at the HAL police station.

Cases of chain snatching are on the rise in Karnataka. Last night, in Kolar a couple returning from a wedding at night lost their gold jewellery as they were forcefully stopped by miscreants. They threw chilli powder on the victims and got away with gold worth Rs 3 lakh.

Despite CCTV cameras installed all over the cities and also on the outskirts, the number of incidents of chain snatching are increasing in Karnataka.
