Soon, people can reserve tickets in the Vayu Vajra buses in BMTC. The transport department is developing an application to this effect. The step has been taken as there is a considerable drop in people taking the Vayu Vajra buses.
There are contemplation of giving the people discount on reserving tickets on Vayu Vajra buses.
The drop in the number of people taking the bus can be attributed to people taking the cab and most of them taking the metro to airports and workplaces respectively.
The BMTC had released a mobile app in 2015. The organisation plans to develop the seat-reserving programme through this app.
Many cab services are seen giving offers to people who want to travel to the airport. Now even BMTC is following the suit and is all set to give its commuters a discount on booking the ticket prior to the travel.
It is said that many people are found using the metro services. So if these Vayu Vajra buses travel on the metro route, the users of the bus also might increase. Those who take metro can use Vayu Vajra buses to reach their destination after getting down from the metro.
Now that lakhs of people use the metro for daily travel, the BMTC needs to have feeder services to the metro station, making sure that enough people travel on the bus at least to catch the metro train.
This is another chance to the BMTC to cut down on the old and those buses on the verge of breaking down. Even this will reduce traffic in Bengaluru considerably. Good maintenance, frequency of the buses will also ensure that people will return to the buses, at least use them as the feeder services.
In fact, Metro services are available for a limited line of places and buses are still the major means of travel. Thus good offers and proper maintenance and route plan of BBMP can serve the purpose well.
